Low Virtual Memory

by praglen / July 26, 2009 12:00 PM PDT

I have a Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook and it's often very slow(I have an ADSL internet connection, which unfortunately is my only choice. I'm in Thailand. What can I buy(I can have it sent to me by a friend in the States) to upgrade the memory?

here are the specs:

Currently installed memory:
Each memory slot can hold with a maximum of 256GB per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
Maximum Memory Capacity: 2048MB
Currently Installed Memory: 1GB
Available Memory Slots: 1
Total Memory Slots: 2
Dual Channel Support: Yes
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.60GHz Model 13, Stepping 8
CPU Speed: 1592 MHz
All memory slots may be filled, some of the existing memory may need to be removed in order to upgrade.Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.
Q: Will my system recognize the maximum upgrade? A: Possibly
How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB.

So what should I buy(the deatailed specs)?

What is confusing to me is this:

Each memory slot can hold with a maximum of 256GB per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
Maximum Memory Capacity: 2048MB

How can each slot hold 256GB, but the max capacity is shown as 2GB?

Well, right below the scanner results (if you scroll down), should have been a suggestion of what to get, with specs and part number.

What is the EXACT complete model number of your Tosh?

Pretty sure Bob (posted below) has the right answer, as he always does.

So did you find the recommended RAM by scrolling down below the scan results?

But Virtual memory isn't system memory.

Virtual memory is set in windows and it uses your hard drive as virtual memory. If you are running out of space on your hard it will affect virtual memory and slow your machine down.
