I'm looking for a compact camera that works well in low light conditions.

Low Light

Compact camera and low light are like oil and water.
They do not mix.

Any camera that has a full set of manual controls can do OK in low light.

None of the ultra small, ultra thin cameras have manual controls.

The Canon A75 (now replaced by the A510)is about the smallest camera with manual controls.

To function well in low light, you will have to learn how to use the manual controls. In low light situations, any digital camera in auto mode will very seldom select the proper settings.

Low Light Rock Band Examples

Here is a link to some low light (non flash) photos:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1005&message=12611401

They are an example of what is required to pull off this type of shot.

The camera used was the Canon Digital Rebel 330D.
It was fitted with the Canon F1.8 non-zoom 50mm lens.

The settings were:
Shutter - 1/100 second
F-Stop - f1.8
ISO setting - 800
Focal length - 50mm

All of the above info came from the EXIF data that is embedded in the photos.

I don't know how long these photos will be available.
If you do not see them, the originator has removed them.
