Low cost camera I can get a remote for

Jan 4, 2011 8:08PM PST

I am looking for the most basic, low cost camera that I can get a remote for. I am not a professional I just want to be able to take Christmas card pictures, etc. If I could get a remote for my 100 dollar point and shoot I would but it obviously does not have that as an option.

Remote Control

Typically, the low cost cameras do not have remote controls.

And you can't buy a remote control and just attach it to a camera.
The camera must have been designed for a remote control.

Every digital camera I have seen has a 10 second delayed shutter, so that the person taking the picture can get in the picture too.

Just put the camera on a tripod, set the 10 second timer and snap the picture.
Then you have 10 seconds to get in position for your picture.
Don't forget to smile!

Yeah I am okay with buying a DSLR I am just trying to find out what are the lower end models. I just have no need for a 500 dollar camera.

Any DSLR camera with lens, will cost over $500 plus about $50 for the remote control.

I have not looked for point and shoot cameras with remote control in some time and I have only found one that is available now.
Canon G12 - Which sells for about $450 plus the price of a Canon remote control.

Fujifilm just announced the HS20 EXR.
It is not available yet and no price was mentioned but my guess is about $400.
It has a remote control (extra cost).
