Low battery life

I read both comments on this camera and the review that was posted on the camera. The review is saying they are getting 70 pics per set of batteries. Why am I only getting 4-5 pics? I would be happy with 70. Like I said, I use the AC adapter when doing anything, taking the batteries out when not in use, uploading pics, viewing photos, etc.

Age of the batteries, make/model of the camera and if a fresh set of akalines get you 50 or so pictures.

My original Canon Digital Elph would get some 25 to 50 pictures on one charge of the proprietary battery. I finally got the second battery and it would get me 50 to 70 shots. That unit is now about 5 years old, but still works! My newer cameras still get more shots per battery set or charge, but I still carry spare power.

The camera is an HP 735. I got it on Ebay. All the batteries I've used are the NI-MH/NI-CD which are suggested for this camera. I've contacted HP and downloaded the upgrade into the camera. I've used OTC batteries and rechargable batteries to no avail.
I used to have an older Digital HP 200C and the batteries in that would last for 70-100 pictures.
I've sent away for 2500 MAH as the recharables I do have are 2200 MAH and I'll see if that helps.

What is OTC.

I can guess over the counter, but you were not specific. The 735 was noted to only get some limited number of pictures and maybe you have a dud and why it was on ebay. You may want to get it back to that ebay or at least rate them for selling duds.

Looks defective to me, but I can see you will have a rough time getting it resolved because of how it found you to be its owner.
