Loves Us All

Feb 29, 2004 1:11AM PST

I read this quote in a local paper. I have not seen this Mel Gibson movie myself, as yet. Since today is Sunday, I thought it sounded pretty nice.

As submitted by this unnamed person:

"I saw Mel Gibson's movie and it was very moving, but it did go along with the Bible.
You know our Lord never said I am giving my life so only Christians can live. He gave his life so everyone could live in what he hoped would be peace and love for one another.
Why people are trying to make a controversy over this is beyond me.
Let's try to think in a more positive way and live and let live and not look for trouble.
God and Jesus loves us all, Jewish or Christian".

Dear George

A salient post from the unnamed person. All religions are fundamentally good and kind. It is interesting to me that they say "Live and let live" - I cannot think how many times I say this to myself when reading of news events on many subjects.

It is extremely difficult IMO to follow a religion because "you were told to" and still have a clear conscience given the historical (and current!) baggage that comes with each of them.

Mel's film IMO will make lots of money and then fade from view. That it is setting people thinking is good, and if it causes people to re-evaluate religion and subsequently become more in favour of "Man's humanity to Man", then I'm not about to complain. I guess time will tell.

PS Haven't seen the film. It's due out on 26 March here.
