Lousy s/w: Spyware Cleaner Suite 4.0

Oct 25, 2005 11:37PM PDT

I got this s/w at OfficeMax for $10 on sale. Free, if you sent in the rebate of $10.

Let me tell you, it installed OK, but I can't really tell if its working. The "updater" just shows no action or return "is current". By no action, I mean no status is given of just how far along(update process) it gets. Plus, the utlititites are Spyware Cleaner,Firewall, AV, Anti-Spam. Entirely low tech appoarch, IMHO. Heck, fo $10, I thought it was worth it to have all those features, NOT! Its made by Game Mill Publishing. Oh yeah, the support website, duhh!!!, its about nothing, really.

Step away from this one -----Willy

Why would I do this?

With free titles such as EWIDO, Spybot, Adaware and others freely found at http://www.download.com why would I pick up that package?

Many, many users out there, various options

Robert, there are alot of great freeware or trailware pgms. out there. However, there are great commerical pgms. that deliver the goods too and for many that's thier appoarch to s/w buying. Further, IMHO $10 isn't that much and seeing a product not heard of before, I thought I'll try it. The main reason being, it was one complete package. I forgot to mention it also included a "System Enhancer 4.0 CD" too. My experience is your experience and that's free. Sad adios -----Willy

Exactly what I said to many software companies due to non-performance. I'm finding that Open Source programs or freeware ones are now exceeding what I need most of the time.

I start out with the free evrsion as well, but if I am really impressed I usually purchase the full version. No harm in using the free version as long as they are willing to give it away though.
