Lost the sound completely /XP PRO SP3

May 9, 2010 2:14AM PDT

Dear members,
Today I lost the sound completely from my computer, so; trying to fix it I pursued the following tactics and tests,First I looked at the icon at the task bar, it disappeared, then I went to control panel sounds and audio devices then to sounds and audio devices property, there can not do anything as every choice is grayed out; the volume, the mute and the place volume icon on the task bar, then clicked on the sound tab, under program events I tried Start Windows; the following error message came up:(Windows can not play the sound window XP Start Up wav. Your sound Card maybe in use) although it is not.
Is the sound card finished ?,dose it need a new one, where is it locates on the computer; and how difficult is it to change it.

Hi Adnansaleh,

Did you try to restore your system to the point when everything was still working?
