lost sound on my camcorder

can anybody tell me why my sound on my panasonic mini dv panasonic pv-dv51 is gone. could it be i need to get it service. any advice is welcomed

have you changed the brand of tape you use? I once tried Panasonic tapes, and vitually no sound was recorded (I did faintly hear a fire truck's siren which had passed within 20 feet). I switched back to Maxell, and the problem disappeared.

Explain more about how you are listening to the sound.

thinks for your reply i am using maxwell tapes. this seem to happen after i used my headphones when i unpluged my headphones thats with lost sound with or without the head phones THINKS AGAIN ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED

That suggests the problem is related to the headphones.

Have you checked to see if audio is coming across the firewire interface? The headphones may have left the camera's speaker disabled, and yet be unable to reconnect to the audio themselves.
