Lost original Hard Drive Icon on Intel Mac Tiger OSX 10.4.9

May 5, 2007 12:06AM PDT

Computer was in Sleep Mode I touched some buttons on keyboard to wake it up and when it came back on My Hard drive icon had disappeared. When I searched for it, it said it had been modified. I copied the icon but can I restore the original icon?

How did you copy the icon?

Where did you find it?

In the Finder MenuBar, click on Finder > Preference and click the SIdeBar tab.
Make sure that the Hard Drive button is checked in the top pane and the Desktop button is checked in the bottom pane.

That should put your icon back on the desktop

Copied it from Disk Utility. Had already done what you suggested but it did not re-appear. Also when I searched for it in the Spotlight Icon, the alias icon appeared and also the orginal hard drive icon but it did not show a path for the original icon, only a slash and a dot or two.
