Lost my thumb drive!

Feb 21, 2011 2:34PM PST

Okay so I lost my Sandisk Cruzer 2 GB thumb drive and ALL my stuff was on there! My college stuff, personal writings... like everything was on there. I have like NO idea where it is and was wondering if there was anyway I can access those files without the thumb drive. Please help me!!! I have a Sony Vaio laptop, Windows 7 OS, and most if not all the files were saved in Microsoft Office Student 2007 rich text format.

Find recovery pgm.

Learn the lesson, don't save files to a solo media, burn to discs as well to protect yourself.

I suggest you try the pgm., PC Inspector file recovery/PCI_filerecovery. Google for it and its free. You can try other recovery pgms. but beware repeated attempts may result in even worse loss it maybe a one time chance. When a thumb drives fails, its pretty much, hosed, especially if no activity LED gets lit.

Consider them lost.

And in the future, don't rely on having data on one place only, especially not a USB stick or an external hard disk. The principle is called BACKUP, and means making an extra copy (or 2) on another place, just in case something happens with the original.

Compare it with keeping a spare key of your home with your parents or best friend. Just in case you lose your own and can't enter any more.
