lost my sound

by jay18 / April 7, 2006 10:14 AM PDT

I was upgrading my computer to WindowsXP from Windows 98 when somehow I lost all sounds on my computer. I believe I might have had a virus. Anyone know what I can do to get my sound back. I don't think it is the sound card.

Jay, Make Sure To Install XP Drivers For The Card

XP doesn't do that automatically. Visit the sound card manufacturer's website and download the most recent driver for the card and XP...It may be possible that the card isn't compatible with XP at all. I hope not, but I've seen it happen.

Hope this helps.

Ok. I will try that and see what happens.
It's aggravating when this computer messes up.
I can use all the advice I can get.
