I am not sure what I did, if anything, but when I open Word, or a word document there is no toolbar witih the primary menues(FILE, EDIT, VIEW etc). I have tried to delete and reload Office 2000 but to no avail. I ned some help with this.

WinXP pro, Office 2000(sp3),

Thanks in advance.

It's called the menu bar (not the master toolbar) and this is the only not very informative discussion on this forum about it:
http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6129-0.html?forumID=29&threadID=3930&messageID=47182
See what you can use.

Otherwise:
You mention 'delete' and 'reload', but do not explain these terms. Try a full uninstall from the Setup from the Office CD. Then run Microsofts Office 2000 Removal Wizard to erase the last traces (should be on the CD or can be downloaded). Then reinstall.

Hope this helps.

Actually, I discovered the solution on the Microsoft site--the Normal.dot files were corrupted. Once I corrected that the menu and toolbars were restored. Thanks for your help.

That, in fact, ...

was the first suggestion (offered by Bob Proffitt) in the thread I referenced. It's remarkable what a corrupted normal.dot can do.
