Lost my key to Office 2000 - what do I do?

by kbil / January 24, 2009 12:55 PM PST

I have to reload Windows onto my computer and will also have to reload my Office 2000 Professional. The problem is I've lost the key for the software so I can't reload it. I know I've contacted Microsoft before and they've provided me with a key for a product that I've purchased previously but I just tried their website and they want $50 to email them for customer support for Office 2000. How do I contact them or otherwise get a product key without getting charged $50?

Usually not an issue. Remember when you installed it?

I'm offering 2 solutions.

1. Magic Jellybean -> http://magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ (yes, Office 2000 keys were being retrieved even though it wasn't listed.)

2. Microsoft. Why? Because if you REGISTERED your software when you installed, you can get a new key.

And 50$ is CHEAP for support calls. If you are telling me that 50 bucks is not worth it to get a new key I'd like to hear you write it.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
