Question

LOST IPHONE BACKUP PASSWORD..!

Sep 29, 2014 6:41PM PDT

Help anyone ! Did an iPhone backup to iTunes on my Computer before the ios 8..8.02 updates. Got so boloxed by issues with 8 that I can't remember the backup password. Any way around it ? Ios 8 managed to reduce 3,800 songs on my iPhone 5 to 212 and has labeled 30 GB as 'other', which my iPhone doesn't recognize as Music. Now I can't restore or re-sync and add the music back from iTunes...or install new for that matter.

Yes, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946 is quite clear:
"Warning: Make sure it's a password that you'll remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable."

However, the same link says:
"iTunes can back up your settings, Messages, Camera Roll, documents, saved games, and other data. Backups don't contain content synced to the device, such as movies, music, podcasts, and apps."
So it seems to me that the 30 GB of music is not in the backup anyway, so that restore shouldn't have worked anyway.

Now where's your backup and restore plan? And maybe that music is still in iCloud?

Hi,

Try your UNLOCKING CODE (the one that you put to unlock and use your device) with 4 numbers.
