Lost HDD space

Jul 22, 2007 10:13PM PDT

Hey all

Looking for some help Sad
Yesterday I got a new pc

Intel Core 2 Duo 6,600 MHz
Ge-force 7600 DDR3 256mb
Memory 2,000 MB
SATA HDD 360 GB
20x DVD+/-RW

Ok the problem, I installed xp pro 32bit and it only shows 127.99GB HDD Space
Where and how do I get the rest of the space back?

Looking for simple instructions to follow as I?m not a wizard on computers.
Thanks in advance.

Proper for XP!

If you had used a XP SP2 CD then the space would have been available upon install. For your setup, install SP2 and then the remaining space will then show in the Disk Management tool.

Ah yes I now have 2 partitions
1st 127.99
2nd 170.10 = 298.09. still missing 32gb that is a lot still missing.
I know windows allocates some for reasons but is 32gb a lot for this?

Not really missing 30 gb.

Just the difference between 1 billion (what the maker of the disk counts) and 2 to the power 30 (what Windows counts). Times 360. And some overhead. That's the way it should be.
