Lost Favorite in IE 6.0

Sep 19, 2005 9:47AM PDT

I am using Internet Explorer 6.0 in WindowsXP Home SP2.
Lost access to my favorites list. When clicking on Favorites menu only ''Add to favorites...'' and ''Organize favorites...'' menu items shows up. Also nothing happens when I click on ''Add to favorites...''

I can see my favorites list in folder ''Documents and Settings|Owner|Favorites''.

I recently changed to DSL. Before the list disappeared I uninstalled Walmart Connect Internet Service and worked with setting up my homepage on my new ISP Earthlink.

Repairing IE6.0...

My guess would be that Walmart's ISP software corrupted Internet Explorer when you removed it. To fix this, start by backing up your favorites. (Copy all of the files in the directory "Documents and Settings|Owner|Favorites" to a new folder.) Next, click here for Microsoft's instructions on how to repair Internet Explorer 6.0 in Windows XP. Once IE's been repaired, restart your computer and make sure everything's returned to normal. If you favorites were deleted (shouldn't be, but stranger things have happened) you can paste the files back into the proper directory. If not, save them to disk as a backup in case anything goes wrong in the future.

Hope this helps,
John

I failed to mention in my original message that I had reinstalled SP2. There was no change in the behavior of Favorites menu.
