That happened to me too. Here's what you do. Go to explore and look for the folder with your name on it. Under this folder, look for the folder Application Data. Expand that folder then click on the Identities folder. You will see one or more folders under that with cryptic names (usually a series of numbers and letters). Expand this folder, then expand the Microsoft folder, then click on the Outlook Express folder. This "should" be where all your old folders and e-mail have gone.
Now that you've found it, open Outlook Express, then click on the File menu, then scroll to import, then click on mail account setting. It will prompt you to locate the file. Use the browse function to navigate to where your files are, then follow the instructions from there and viola! You will have all your stuff back. It sounds complicated but it's not. Just a pain the the rear.
Now, if I could just retrieve my address book....
I just upgraded from windoze ME to XP pro. Glad to be rid of the worst OS known to man (it's an oxymoron actually...can't call it an operating system if it doesn't operate!) I went to check my email...and found that outlook express had conveniently misplaced the contents of my inbox. Along with all my other folders, filters, and everything else near and dear to my heart.
Luckily I'd made a backup recently, but everything I've sent or received since then (nearly a month) has gone walkabout, and I've no idea where.
Where, pray tell, did my email go?
