Lost e-mail

Sep 8, 2004 7:32AM PDT

Windows 98E
Netscape 7.2
40 gig hard drive with lots of space left.
273 e-mails that have been read and some of which have been in the INBOX for over one year simply vanished.
The SENT copies are still there as are some recently TRASHed e-mails.
Why did this happen and is there a way to recover?
Tnx

I'd check that your backups are OK, wipe out the email program and restore from backup.

Does that fix it?

Bob,
Thanks for the rely. I am a complete neophite at this. I downloaded Netscape 7.2 so I do not have a CD. I have no idea if I have a backup.
How do I locate a backup?
My e-mail is ray265ray@hotmail.com

Your email address is in clear public view. You will get more spam.

As to backup, it's now clear you haven't made such or investigated how to do such. Let me help by giving you the TWO WORDS you type into GOOGLE.COM to find out how to backup Outlook Express.

OLEXP BACKUP

The article is useful even in lost email since it shows what filenames to look for and what each is used for. Also, it tells how to restore such.

As to Netscape, Netscape.com should have a help page about backup and restore.
