Question

Lost Data on Portable HD

Sep 12, 2011 7:01AM PDT

How can I recover data or repair a portable HD that has 1 GB data but now reads as RAW? It is NTSF, my laptop is running Windows 7. The data is still there but the free utility that I use to recover lost files estimates that it will take 300 hours to recover all of the files. I think I've just lost the index to all the files. Is there an easy way to recover?

Uh, where are they? I've tried using the search for disk repair, data recovery, etc, and I haven't found anything that works very well

No search needed.

Sorry to be dense, but I do not see any free titles at the top of the page (or what do you mean by " top post in this forum"?) Can you give me a title or a web page I can go to?

The title contains "Lost and Found" in the CNET Storage Forum.
