LOST CONNECTION TO WIRELESS ROUTER

HELP!A FRIEND CLEANED OUT ALOT OF CLUTTER FROM MY SON'S 98SE SYSTEM, I HAVE A WIRELESS ADAPTER FOR MY SON'S PC, MY PC IS WIRE ROUTER , WE HAVE THE LYNKSYS B. HIS PCI ADAPTER WON'T CONNECT NOW, I HAVE TRIED TO UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL BUT IT TELLS ME TO REMOVE HARDWARE, I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH TO BE TAKING ANYTHING OUT OF PC, WHAT CAN I DO? IT WAS WORKING FINE BEFORE WE CLEANED OUT, PC WAS BLACKING OUT AND FREEZING ALOT, IT S QUICKER NOW WITH MORE SPACE, JUST NO INTERNET, I REALLY NEED HELP. FAST

Sorry about the caps, Help! a friend cleaned out alot of clutter from my son's 98se system, which has a lynsys wireless pci adapter to get internet. 80211b one, since we cleaned out we can't get internet, i tried uninstalling and reinstalling, it tells me to uninstall hardware, I don't have enough know how to do that without messing things up, I don't know what to do to fix, i did call linksys cs but they couldn't fix, they told me to take out hardware also, I hope someone can help me fast, thanks

Sounds like spyware damage to the winsock.

Lookup WINSOCKFIX on google.com and see if that puts the winsock settings back to normal.

i know this sounds like stupid question but how do I get to this site when I can't get on the internet since the pc was cleaned out?

You use the machine you are on to fetch it.

Put it on disk (CD or diskette) and hand carry it over.
