Lost AVG 6 completely

Turned on pc and was met with a red shield - virus protection off. Clicked on my desktop AVG icon and 8minutes later the screen came up with the site with the large tick icon yellow (not red) As I write this the black and grey AVG icon has appeared in the bottom bar and a balloon telling me what I already know that AVG aint working. Could not get to the test centre by clicking on the yellow tick icon as instructed. Everything is slow even scrolling takes a couple of seconds to start each time.
As some of you will know a few days ago I upgraded to IE 7, although I can't see that as the problem.

Any Ideas?

The delayed reaction of the scrolling mechanism..

In reply to: sorry AVG 7

takes place when I am scrolling down items off-line in my documents, so I may have two separate problems.

XP home. IE 7

Basil, don't know if this will help but...

AVG 7.5 is still supported until Dec 31, 2008. If you haven't already I would completely uninstall the version you have and clean all remaining remnants of any and all Grisoft versions. Then reinstall AVG 7.5... see if that helps. Some are having issues with the new version of AVG 8.0... Grisoft has offered a recent program update but it's unclear at the moment if it is successful.

As you have mentioned you may have other issues but I would try a reinstall of AVG 7.5 first.

Good luck!

Thanks Glenn...

that was my next move if no one had anything to say about virus infection. Well, cleaned out AVG 7.5 and reinstalled....the cheeky sods gave me AVG 8 instead, but no matter.

I had correctly assumed that the slowness and scrolling problem was to do with the disorganised AVG program rampaging about turning on and off etc, as it has now stopped.
