lost all sound

I have a (1 year old)
Gateway Windows XP Professional
FX530 desktop
Creative Sound Baster X-Fi
I completely reinstalled everything, thinking that would help.
It did't. I still have no sound. Tried 2 different speaker sets.
Can someone help? I really miss the sound.
