lost admin paswd/limited only

Feb 5, 2004 8:49AM PST

hey,
You see I have two accounts on my XP Home, mine (admin) and my daughters, which is limited. It has been awhile since I have got onto this computer since I've been using my laptop from work. But now since I need some old documents from my admin account, I can't get to them. I also put the same password on the ADMINISTRATORS account so that my daughter couldn't sneak some downloads in(since the computer crashed last time). I've tried so many things. None of the bootdisks seem to work for some reason because I'd make them, and my computer just restarts as normal, Can anyone help? If so, thanks

Try the hidden Administrators account. Restart in safe mode, copy your files to floppy.

I already did but I password protected that too because I knew my daughter knew about, but what do you mean about copying files to floppy?

If the hidden account is passworded then you might be able to glean your files off by removing the drive and putting it in a working XP machine. From there you access the drive as a slave drive and copy and paste the files onto the master drive.

I've tried that already, but for some reason my computer won't boot it, it just boots up normally

Look in your bios, and make sure you have the ability to boot from your floppy drive. Then, put the image on a floppy and try. Back up your important stuff first, if you can. This disk has never wrecked a machine on me yet, but even its documentation tells you to use at your own risk.

How do I look in my bios, where are they?
