Question

Lost ability to view computer content on tv via cat 6

Sep 17, 2018 12:15PM PDT

I lost the ability to view or listen to computer content ( music, photos, movies ) through my Samsung un65ks using a cat 6 cable from my modem to the TV. I simply added content to windows media playlist and selected play to then selected either the TV or blue ray player. The Samsung experts tell me its no possible even though I've been doing it for over a year. I bought the TV in July of 2016. I believe a cructhfeild tech help me set it up with blue ray so i could play my music files on my computer through my home stereo. I have a desktop computer running windows 7 pro connected with a cat 6 to modem, no Bluetooth.

My bet is Windows updated.

The last few updates have been huge. You'll have to repeat what the tech did to get it to work to get it to work again. If it's nothing Samsung supports, you'll have to repeat what the crutchfeild tech did and hope no changes happened in the ISP modem or Samaung TV.

Think its on Samsungs side.

I say that because i had to download smart view app on my Samsung phone roughly 6 months ago when it stopped working. I didn't need the app prior.

Downloading a smart phone app shouldn't matter unless changes were made to the TV as well. I know on some Samsungs you have to use their smart view PC app to stream from the PC but as presented to me this reads as it's time to go back over all that was done the first time.

Remember if you use an ISP supplied modem, the ISP might turn on firewalls. So you get to check for that as well.
