loss of connectivity

I have a wireless network using a Linksys router. One of the PCs in the network, which used to work fine with its PCI card, has suddenly lost connectivity. That is, it detects a signal, and connects to the network, but is unable to acquire an IP address. After I set the system to to acquire a fixed address, it now connects, and I am able to ping the router: but still I am not able to access the internet when I fire up my browser. Any ideas?

If you set the IP, then you have to set the other values too.

Luckily I didn't have to do lots more configuring. I fixed the problem by using winsockfix - alerted by a reply you sent to another CNET query offering a link to this utility. Hooray! Many thanks.
