In the VM OS called Windows, freeRAM is wasted RAM. More about that at http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.php
It's quite proper for free RAM to approach zero and in any VM OS that's exactly what we want it to be. RAM beats hard disk access every time.

Hi I have a two year old Dell Demension with windows XP, 512 mb Ram. I mostly use the PC to surf the internet. I rarely play games.
I notice sometimes that the memory will lessen after a few days and the computer will slow down some. I also have been noticing that when I start up the PC, that available physical memory will often be under 150., even before open any programs or browsers. Any suggestions to improve my performance?
Also, I noticed three programs that are using a lot of resources. Can I delete any of these three:
1. J2SE runtime Environment 5.0 update 2
2. J2SE runtime environment 5.0 update 4
3. Java 2 runtime Environment, SE v 1.4.2_03
