Losing ethernet connection

Sep 27, 2010 12:45PM PDT

I've been having recently internet connection loss where the Network icon in the bottom right is displayed with the ! in a yellow triangle.

I am on a network with another computer and my ps3 and they retain internet connection even when I'm down. The only way I can bring the internet back on my computer is by disabling and re-enabling my LAN connection. It gets the internet back, but it's pretty annoying since doing so sometimes takes 30 - 45 seconds and the internet can go poof again just 15 seconds later. Anyone got clues as for a more permanent solution?

I'm using a nvidia nforce ethernet card and that's pretty much all I can tell >_<. Checked the drivers and they appear to be up to date.

Sorry for the double post
Sep 27, 2010 12:46PM PDT

Forgot to mention I'm running windows 7 and the internet seems to drop mostly when I'm trying to watch videos, although it's happened on pages where videos weren't involved.

Sorry for the double post, checked around, couldn't find an edit button Plain

Just Some Things To Try...
Sep 28, 2010 12:23AM PDT

1. Try turning OFF the router/modem, wait for ten minutes, then turn it on again, wait for two minutes for it to re-initialize, then start your computer. Yes, I know the other computers on the network may not be having a problem, but the problem may still be related to your specific wired port connection.

2. Since it sounds like you're using an ethernet connection, try using a different ethernet cable.. They occasionally go bad.

3. Run the Winsock repair steps below to reset your internet software on the computer:

4. Ethernet cards frequently fail on computers and when all else fails, replace it..

Hope this helps.
