lose wireless connection when powerbook goes to sleep

May 2, 2007 9:27AM PDT

Hi, I have a powerbook G4 Titanium, with added airport card (card about 6 years old), OS 3.9.1. , 867 MHz, Recently I am losing my wireless connection when the machine goes to sleep or I close the cover (to stop the fan). It does not automatically come back (as it used to) until I restart the computer. Is very annoying. When I am connected by ethernet cord everything is fine. Do you think my airport card is going? Thanks in advance for any help. Judy

but after scouring the discussion board at Apple, your turn next, I can find mentions of this problem but no real fix.

www.apple.com and then pick the discussions tab

try installing Security Update 2007-004 v1.1

from Apple's description of the update:

"This update corrects an issue where the AirPort connection may be lost after waking from sleep. This issue only affects Mac OS X v10.3.9 with Security Update 2007-004."

I actually meant the original poster.

Still, it's good to hear that a suggested fix actually works.
