Question

loosing signal, not antenna

Apr 4, 2015 1:52AM PDT

My Samsung LN46A540P2F TV which is about 7 years old has begun to give issues with reception. I have two antennas in the house and have connected them both to the tv with the same result which does not occur on my other set so I am pretty sure the problem is not antenna related.

What happens is that the pictures cuts out (weak/ no signal message) for about 2-3 seconds every minute and pixelates mildly about every 20 seconds.

It may need service.

I'm unsure of the question here but at 7 years you would get estimates and then decide what to do.

The question is "Does this sound like a repairable problem?" For the record there is no problem with DVD/BLuRay HDMI input (other than HDMI port 3 which is out of service.)

While there are boards that can be replaced, antenna, tuner performance is one of those areas you're never quite sure if a board will fix it right up. You've seen the old 2 TV house discussion since about the 1950's where folk discover one set is better than the next but your choice to get the tuner or the board that holds the tuner replaced. Sources for that board are service folk, samsungparts.com, shopjimmy.com, ebay and more.
