Loosing Internet Connection

Jul 26, 2005 2:53PM PDT

Alright...this just started happening after I updated my router and modems firmware. First my specs, Linksys B wireless router, motorolla surfboard modem, windows xp with sp 2. Everything is connected with cables not wireless. Problem, Whenever i attept to stream a video I loose my internet connection. I have to turn off my lan card and turn off my modem and my router to get the connection back. I did get a message with IE saying that ActiveX is firewalled. Can that be causing this. It sucks if i open a page with a video i loose my connection and its really a pain. Please help!

Your updates...

are probably the cause.. updates don't just fix problems..they also add functions. Set your ZoneAlarm to medium..this works well for me. Also..some driver programmers don't fully understand activeX. If you can, revert your wireless hardware to earlier version software. Go to microsoft and redo activeX. ActiveX controls the GUI which includes video. If, once you get things working again, you have some real compelling reason to do the upgrades, I would leave it alone. I realize things should work with the upgrades but at least this will get you back to being able to view video streams. Then do some research on the vendors updates. Call them to get instructions on how not to interfere with video streaming and update at the same drive. Someone else may have a better idea. I will follow this thread until the problem is resolved.
