The 1000D appears to be an updated 400D (XTi).

Yet, the 400D is still shown as an active product on the canonusa.com website.

I would expect the 1000D will replace the 400D soon.
Once they get around to updating their website.

Looks like the Live View LCD is the future for all DSLR cameras.

The Auto Lighting Optimizer will be helpful for back-lit shots.
