Looking to upgrade my laptop's hard drive

Jul 19, 2009 12:14AM PDT

Hello All,
I just saw the video from cnet on how to updrade my laptop's hard drive. I do have a few questions though before I do this.

1. When purchasing a new hard drive, what should I look for? Can I buy a hard drive that has "too much GB" to the point where it may affect my laptop?

2. My laptop is advertised as 160GB, but is really two 80GB hard drives. If I use EZ Upgrade Kit found in the video, will this still work?

Here a link to my specs if it help (with the exception to the RAM which is now 2GB):

Thank you so much for spending the time to read my post!

Looks fine however.

Given the drives can be in a RAID setup or not I'd plan for the worst scenario. Backup your stuff before you put in the new pair of drives. And be sure your recovery media boots.

Upgrading laptop's hard drive

thanks for the advice.

I was mainly concerned about selecting the hard drive. Is it possible to get "too much" GB? I'm worried about buying a hard drive and then finding out that it won't work because my system can't support it.

The signs are there

That it should not be a problem. There is a problem in that this system could be set up as a RAID array. That setup is something of a choice so you'll have to know this one.
