Looking to Purchase a Camcorder

Feb 25, 2009 1:30AM PST

I'm going on a trip to Japan as a student for a full year next year and I am starting to look at digital camcorders. I have some experience with digital cameras, but the film aspect is completely new to me and I need some help.

I plan to do video blogging, so the camera will have to have decent picture and great audio (the audio is as important if not more important than the video). Additionally, it should be lightweight and have the ability to take long takes of footage (for excursions and such). My price range is up to $500, though I would like it to be under $400. It may be asking for a lot of quality in an inexpensive camcorder, but I just want to make the most of my trip overseas and have the hardware to document it Grin

If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know!

Actually I did consider that, but I have found out that that is sometimes a misconception about Japanese technology. And after you get through with export fees and other trade regulations buying technology while in Japan becomes more expensive than buying it from within the US.
