Optical zoom is the only zoom that you should consider.
Forget about digital zoom.
Anything that digital zoom can do, software can do the same thing better.
With software, it is called cropping.
According to the Kodak website, they do not have a Z710.
They do have a P710.
Here is the comparison of those specifications:
The Kodak P710 sells for about $150 more that the Fujifilm S5200.
I'm Looking gor a little guidance here..
can some one explain the difference between optical and digital zoom and whats better to look for ... My daughter wants a digital camera for Xmas .. and has indicated the Fuji S5200 because she wants a zoom and telephoto lens ..different then the olympus (point and shot)she has now ... I had also found a Kodak Z710 Easy Share with similiar features .. the ratings on CNET are 7.4 for the Fuji and 6.0 for the Kodak..
ANy advice ..
