Question

Looking to buy an External Hard Drive for my Xbox One

Apr 14, 2016 4:58AM PDT

I was wanting to get at least a 3 TB. One with a USB 3.0 and no AC adapter. I've heard and have also seen videos that show that the RPM really don't matter much. I was wanting to get one that's 7200RPM to shave down loading times but also hear that they have more potential to burn out faster. Which makes sense to me.

I was looking to get this Seagate model... http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-STEA2000400/dp/B00TKFEE5S

Or this one... http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Portable-External-Storage-STDR2000100/dp/B00FRHTSK4

However, I have heard that Western Digital makes a better product and that the Seagate's have had issues. So I'm now leaning towards this one... http://www.amazon.com/Passport-Portable-External-Drive-WDBCRM0030BBK-NESN/dp/B017K605ZQ

Or even this one... http://www.amazon.com/Black-Passport-Ultra-Portable-External/dp/B00W8XXYN2/

I prefer the first Western Digital one simply because it says it's made for Xbox One. I really don't know much about the performances any of these have with a video game system so I figured I'd ask around to see what more knowledgeable people recommend.

Whatever you get buy two.
That's assuming your data is important to you.
Get in the habit of syncing or cloning one unit to the other.
Externals seem to go poof often.
I'll assume that's because folks knock them around or drop them.

Don't leave the unit constantly plugged in it will get hot.
Plug it in....do what you need to do and then unplug it.

Definitely not buying 2.

I shouldn't even have to buy one but this is the position we're all in this console's generation. Your data is saved through your XBL account anyway. Not the HD itself.

I've posted this on several sites and have seen mixed opinions. Some say that they leave theirs in and never have an issue. Perhaps, it's the type they have. Typically not a slim and with an ac adapter
