If that machine has the specs to handle Assassin's Creed and Bioshock, it definitely has the gumption to take on any general use you'll probably put it through.

Keep in mind that this might be a laptop in name only, though (10 lbs!). The deal is good, and the machine looks great, but if you're going to be carrying your machine around a lot, you might want to look at something a little lighter.

Have you looked at any other models?

It is a pretty hefty laptop, but as an ex-high school student who used to carry 25 lb backpacks, I think that it will be OK. It still is pretty heavy but it looks good to me. Some people have beefs with hp for various reasons, do you know what their strong and weak points are? I'm also concerned about durability of hp machines in general.
