I doubt usb 2 is your problem.

Transfer to/from disc is going to be slow.

What dvd unit do you have?
Make and model.

What is the type of disc you are using and what is the speed rating of the disc your using?

I have Super Multi External 24x DVD Rewriter with a power supply

I was wondering if a LG Ultra Slim Portable DVD Rewriter can reach a speed of 24x without a power supply just by using 3.0 usb

or even any portable drive

I checked the spec and only 8x to DVD media. Even then my choice to record 12x to CD media for safety, and other reasons.

But the last time I did that USB 2.0 was more than up to the task of recording DVD at 8x speed. However I never record at the rated speed of the media because, reasons.

I record at half the media speed or drive speed, whichever is lower.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
