Looking for the best speaker and subwoofer

Hello, I'm trying to decide whats the best speaker and subwoofer combo that I could purchase for $800 (canadian). I'm totaly new at this home theater thing. I just recently purchased a PIONEER VSX919AHK receiver from a friend. Right now I just want to make it a 5.1 system, do to the fact I live in a small apartment. Any help with this matter would be much appreciated. Once again my budget is $800 cdn. Thank-you.
