I found 2 HP refurb Compaq Athlon 64's for 738 and 839 respectively delivered to my doorstep (that's US bucks) and they are not featherwieghts. The cheaper was the 1.8GHz and the other was the 2.0GHz. Both have about all you can get on them except the DVD recorder which was not something I want in a laptop anyhow. One unit had the floppy drive, but I haven't used such in years. The model numbers are DP533AV and DP541AV. One's a widescreen and the other isn't. And they seem quite fast and the displays are great for the presentations I do on the road.
You should go shopping and see if something out there is at the price and what you like. There are some real nice units out there after the holiday seasons.

Greetings!
New member looking for assistance/suggestions as to which Notebooks & accesories would be better suited for my needs.
At some point, I will additionally be getting another desktop-But the Notebook is the priority. Below, I will provide a description of what I will be using the Notebook for, what is necessary & what is not.
The Notebook will be primarily used at home & in Country (IP is Cable). I will however, on occasion, be utilizing the Notebook for research/cateloging (macro lens type pics) out of area/State & Country.)Windows XP Professional preferable for my husbands small business.
These ol eyes prefer a fairly clear & not too small of viewing area (Notebook will be functioning as my Primary computer at this juncture).
The Notebook does not need to be of the featherweight variety. I do not use the computer for games etc..I do surf a lot and long for a fast system- 10 Mbps is not acceptable ![]()
The Notebook must be fast, allow for the use of a SLR/SLR type Camera, Router,PSC, wireless mouse & any other accesories that would be necessary/helpful for Notebook.
Look forward to suggestions & assistance.
