Looking for software

Jan 10, 2011 4:37AM PST

I am new to the forum, but I'm giving it a shot for some product help. I'm looking for software like the OLD Print Artist 4.0 Platinum by Sierra. I realize the company is no longer around, and their products have been either bought out or "updated" so much that they hardly resemble the old PA4. I would love to update and be able to use on my newer, faster computer so am in the market for a new program.

I currently have PrintMaster 11, as well as Print Artist 15, and neither will do the simple task of arching letters with a concave arch without completely distorting the letters themselves. I also need the program to allow me to work within custom dimensions (banners, posters, etc), as I design and cut my own stencils for signs in all sizes.

I hate the thought of buying yet another new "update" only to be disappointed with it as well. I've had numerous Print Shop version, Print Artist and Print Master versions, with no luck. Also have tried Adobe Illustrator and it works for some things, but not a simple arch. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

Corel Draw?
Jan 21, 2011 4:13AM PST

I've been using Corel Draw for years to do just that: curving text around a circle or curve. There is menu selection to "Fit Text to Path" that has all sorts of options. I have an OLD version that continues to work even under Windows 7 (although Corel doesn't officially support it). That one function is one of several that Corel does well that keeps me using it year after year. A quick check seems to show that there is a new version of Corel Draw available.

This is one classic software. I don't know whether you can still find this online. Well, try searching for "Classic software download".
