And nobody came back. OK, what you are asking for just isn't done for many reasons. But to move a connection from one port to another doesn't make much sense as it's still on the same LAN.
So what if the ports were on say VLANs? Aha, then you change your virtual LAN configuration rather than move the wire/plug/connection.
Now if monitoring is your thing, there are way too many systems out there, Cisco is still the big gorilla on that.
Hello folks,
First - I am NOT looking for the "intelligent patch panel." That is just a monitoring system.
Think of it like an old time telephone operator working a patching system, but instead of phones, it is networks and instead of a human, it is a software controlled patching box with tons of ports that physically changes connectivity either mechanically or optically inside the box.
I think Black Box used to make something like this, but I couldn't find an example of it that was totally what I am looking for.
I need a modern take on it anyway, as I'm looking for a large amount of ports and ideally up to 10G although 1G is acceptable.
I'm aware that this can be set up with an array of switches, but I was hoping for a solution that is already created so I can just log in and change port 1 connectivity from port 2 to port 45. The manual patching works fine for now, but a system that does the patching in the box would be great.
Any ideas or recommendations for systems?
