Looking for New Service provider and phone in GA: Help?

by nvrnvr / August 16, 2004 1:28 AM PDT

I have been with Cingular for a while. I switched to ATT wireless to try it. Not happy with either. And according to my father in law (who works for ATT), the problems with both may not change until the merger of networks in complete months from now. I would liek opinions and feedback about good and bad companies in Atlanta, GA and north of Atlanta. I am familiar with the provider offers, but I want to know who has the best coverage? Also, what is the best phone for this area? I have tried a little blue Nokia whose model number eludes me right now; the recption is horrible. Advise needed.

North Atlanta and Georgia ATT experience
by phd / August 22, 2004 11:29 AM PDT

Here in north Atlanta, I have had an ATT TDMA service contract for years, and my wife just moved to Cingular GSM. I have not had any problems with ATT TDMA service with my Nokia 6360 here or cross-country, except for customer service hassles (of course). I chose the 6360 for business use for voice quality and sensitivity. Been very happy with it. Up till now.

Wife's Cingular service and Samsung X427 is not up to the coverage I HAD with ATT, as it seems to be going downhill. Now I get more fast busy's and even get ROAM in Atlanta suburbs!

My contract's up next month......

I'd go with Verizon. They have the best coverage especially if you get a Tri-Mode phone like the Samusung a-650. They don't make many Tri modes anymore since they want everyone to use all digital, but sometimes your not in a digital network. I found that out when I was in Helen and had to use a pay phone, I had Sprint at the time.

I've had Cingular and Sprint. Cing was horrible. Sprint was ok, but if you get off 75 between Atl and Macon your going to drop your coverage.

I've never heard good things about T-Mobile. I guess that is why they keep changing their name. They were Powertel and something else.
