Question

Looking for new convertible windows 8 tablet/PC...HELP!

Nov 25, 2013 10:39PM PST

I'm going back to school next fall and my current laptop died a month ago.

I'm looking for something to replace it but I'm not super tech savvy or really know the best brands out there. I would love some help. Happy

Requirements:
-touchscreen
-Runs windows 8
-portable to take to classes/work
-Not too big/heavy but not too small I can't type emails and papers on it.
-Can run Microsoft office
-can keep me entertained with Netflix/kindle/games on a good resolution screen.

Please help me find a tablet/PC for my needs and I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Just yesterday I saw a 299 buck Asus Windows 8 Pro tablet. It was their Transformer design. Very nice at that price.

My brother has the Windows 8 RT for about the same price from Microsoft and it's OK but you have to see if that's good for you.

-> Are you saying you can't find/obtain such a model in your area?

No RT

I've heard not good things about Windows RT and I'm going more for the full Windows 8. I live in Ohio, I can get all of them? Why wouldn't I be able to find/obtain a model here?

I just don't know exactly what to look for such as in screen resolution, processing power, etc. But I have looked at the Asus transformers. They are pretty good.

Good question.

I am left guessing a bit here but in this area it's rarely a processing power question since it's all about the form factor, battery time and rarely would anyone think they can do everything they did on a desktop or laptop.

As to what's available, since you are in the USA you can google "Windows 8 Pro Tablets" to see what's out there and most are available in the country.

GAMES is where we must talk a little. Card and simple games are usually OK. But if the client wants to play current 3D games you tell them to wait a few more years for the technology to catch up.
