Try opening the 123 file with LibreOffice since it's free and supports opening that file.

Remember PCs were not that good when we have one last copy. Being such a seasoned user, it's surprising they haven't run into this before and learned to make a backup copy.

I have a older friend who has been building a lotus 1-2-3 file for years with historical data about broadcast stations across the U.S. Unfortunately, the file has become corrupt and he has no backup. When he opens the file, the following error displays: Lotus 1-2-3 Release 9, Error opening or saving file.
This file represents years of work and my friend is quite devastated about not being able to successfully open it. He realizes that the software and file are old.
Is there anything he can do to recover this file? I am familiar with services to recover deleted files, but are there similar services to recover a corrupt file? I really want to help him, but this is outside of my expertise.
