I'm looking for software that can take my serial (usb to serial) GPS dongle and create some cloned com ports so I can use multiple applications with a single receiver. Any help appreciated

They need hardware for buffering and a way to ID the port, IRQ, etc. You can't just splice in extra wiring and use software to sort out the rest.
I'm not splicing anything, this software looks like it'll do what I want, but for $129 it's a little costly.

I was hoping someone might know of some open source/freeware application that I could use.
haven't succeed in searching freeware for this purpose, but found relatively affordable solution http://www.eltima.com/products/serialsplitter/
