Remember, those discussions are very well done. Overdone in fact. Be sure to backup it all before you delete a boatload.

It has a decent file comparison utility. You have to be careful not to get rid of "dupes" that are part of programs or configuration files, etc.

A simple way is one you can do, using Search. Line up all files of a certain type, such as .wav .mp3 and so forth, type by type. Make sure you have both Date Created and Date Modified columns showing, and then line up by name first and find the dupes.

just do a computer search for all music you have on the drive. then sort by title and remove the dups. you can also use itunes or any media player to do the same.

Well an easy way to do it is

to copy all the files of one drive to another location and then copy the other drive to a location. When you copy the files Windows will prompt you that there is a file already in the folder with the same name. It will give you options to skip or add and I believe it will change the name like Sweet_home_Alabama.mp3 to Sweet_home_Alabama(1).mp3. Then there will be a box to check to do this to all the other files just like this.

what about

low quality vs high quality with the same names? I do that with photos a lot, placed in different folders.

Use Duplicate File Finders to do this

There are many software which can help you finding duplicate file and comparing them easily. I use Anti Twin as it a free application. But software like Duplicate file cleaner is good one and provide an easy way to compare and delete duplicate files.

The tutorial here explains few steps in removing duplicate files. You can get Anti Twin which I use from its official site.
Also, if you have file with same name on your drive like same movie on movies collection folder than just merge all movie on same folder and see if you're notified that their is a file with the same name. Anyway Duplicate finder softwares makes this task much easier. They can find two same images or music or files even if the file name is different and most of the programs will allow you to compare it.
