Looking for an Excel like program

Jun 28, 2005 4:24AM PDT

Hello,
I'm setting up a simple database and am having trouble locating a good one. Basically I just need to organize some simple info for about a thousand files. I can very easily use Excel, however it would require me making a thousand different files and opening them all up individually.

What I would like to do is just have a menu along the left side with each file name. When I click on it, I'd like it to open up in the adjacent window quickly.

Does anyone know of a program like this???
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I would use MS Access ...

but that's primarily because I already have it. Any database software would do, I think, for what you want (although the user interface would be different). But there aren't many free ones, I'm afraid.

If your are the adventurous type, you can try the free database BASE from Openoffice 2.0 (www.openoffice.org), still a beta.

Wait for other advices.

HTML?

From the requirement said in the post, maybe one can use an HTML formatted Word document? Or a HTML page that can be used on a browser?
