Answer
Why not the old fashioned way?

We use our laptops time and time again for presentations. There are simple wireless remotes so the speaker can advance the slide and play a video. Why buy something new?

a little more on her class

It's a digital art class that involves critique & comparison of students work. All students use dif platforms for their work such as Macbooks, tablets to windows surface and at least 20 students need to be connected. What she's looking for is not just wireless connectivity but also the ability to swap between casted screens seamlessly or have a few dif screens on the shared screen at the same time. Also, if possible, real time annotation on the screen for her to mark things on the shared screen, but not necessary.

The old fashioned way will still work, but that would take too much time and not sure if it will support tablets or mobile devices.

Another old fashioned way.

My brother has the iPhone and for presenting an Apple TV to the projector. Works fine.

By the way even if the solution you noted was the right price there's always someone that wants it for less. My thought on that is they need to go shopping or google more. Here I think it's a nice enough solution but doesn't fit in to the run of the mill presentations most of us do.

There's also the issue is the teacher is being a bit of a control freak. That is, what's wrong with the usual "come up and show us your work?" like we do today? Yes, it's not as slick and the teacher is not running the show (control issues?) but this is how it's done today without spending much at all.

As to swapping, the cheap exit again.

I did run into where they wanted to compare or side by side so a second projector was setup.
It was cheap.
