Looking for a reliable free video hosting

Mar 8, 2010 12:52PM PST

I am looking for a free video hosting. It may have desktop uploader for fast uploading and can encode HD MOV or WMV video format. It should be able to disable the downloading option so that the video can only be watched online. Does anyone know it?

YouTube is the obvious choice, free and reliable.

Also - Vimeo.

For "anti-youtube", check vive.ly. There are promo codes that can be used to get free hosting.

I agree, bandwidth is always expensive and videos are hard to manage, use youtube or vimeo to be carefree Happy

Photobucket is a good choice as well, for both video and photo.

I would prefer Vimeo or Photobucket over Youtube for video quality. Youtube tends to optimize for speed over quality. If I was producing my own videos, retaining the quality is important to me.

As you are looking for video hosting websites which does not provide option to download the video, I would suggest you go with uploadly.com. I have used Uploadly and I find it easy to use.

I know there are many popular video hosting websites like YouTube, Vimeo and more, but there are ways through which users can download the videos such as by installing YouTube video downloader, add on, etc.

Would love to hear from you which video hosting you have choosed.
