Looking for a new printer. Help

Feb 11, 2009 7:22PM PST

I'm getting ready to buy a laptop, and wanting to get a wireless printer. I will be keeping my desktop computer for my son to use. I have a Dell computer with XP and a Lexmark X3550 all in one printer. I thought about another Lexmark or trying something else. I mainly use a printer for printing, copying and some scanning. I have looked at the HP 4680. I have a issue with my system now were I have to turn off my printer to be able to use a flash drive. And I thought about a printer without card/usb connection on the front of the printer ,which might solve my issue.

Turn off printer? The printer creates an issue if you try to plug a USB device into another port? Not clear on the problem, try to explain a bit more.

It can be usb or usb and wireless, or cat 5 and wireless. Has scanner copier with memory card reader on board.Prints photos, can print two sides of documents. Is fast in picture printing and easy to setup. Price is a bit high around $100 at Sam's club. rocky

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. My issuse is my computer shows the Lexmark as a USB mass storage device and it won't let me use my flash drives, but when I turn off the printer it lets my flash drives work. I have email Lexmark and they haven't been able to help,I reinstalled the software and nothing, I need to call Lexmark next. I think the pictbridge is the problem. I have decided on the HP Officejet J6480 all-in-one. It dosen't have the pictbridge compatible.
